Karoline K. Suhr, aged fourteen school-girl, saved Jessie A.R.K Moross, aged eighteen, from drowning, Kelley's Island, Ohio, February 5, 1911. Miss Moross broke through the ice three hundred feet from the shore of Kelleys Island in Lake Erie, where the water was eleven feet deep. Karoline, whoe feared the ice was unsafe and had kept close to the shore, hurried to the hole without removing her skates or any of her heavy clothing. The ice broke when she tried to pull Miss Moross out, and Karoline fell into the water. After repeatedly breaking the ice about her in efforts to climb out, she raised Miss Moross onto the ice. Miss Moross then fainted. Karoline made further futile efforts to climb out and finally succeeded in getting out only with the help of Miss Moross's clothing which had frozen to the ice. Miss Moross recovered.
