Obituary

Charles, 91, Plain City, formerly of Van Wert, died at Riverside Hospital.

He was a son to Glenn and Ruth (Coe) Moysey. He married Virginia L. Finkhousen, who survives in Plain City.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dianne (Steve Treece) Fisk, Van Wert and Barbara (Johnny) Ferguson, Albany, KY; five stepchildren, Connie Uncapher, Van Wert, Debra Jenkins, Celina, Cheri (Bill) Karn, Plain City, Cindy DeHaan, Angola, IN, and Pam (Dave) Hendricks, Hilliard; four grandchildren, J. Zachary Fisk, M. Devin (Sandrine) Fisk, Cpl. Charles C. Moysey III and Chelsey E. Moysey; five stepgrandchildren, Tracy Carter, April Ruppert, Laura (Zach) Taylor, Jennifer Hendricks and Joshua DeHaan; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, Charles C. Jr.; and three brothers, Robert, Walter and Glenn G. Jr.

He was a kind and joyous man, a loving husband, father and friend, and was the eldest of the four Moysey boys, all of whom served in the Armed Forces. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II with a rank of master sergeant. He fought in the battle of Guadalcanal with 147th Infantry Regiment. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he obtained the rank of captain in the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged from the Reserve on June 10, 1957. After World War II, he returned to his hometown of Eaton, where he and his younger brother, Walter, established Moysey Brothers Clothiers. In 1963, they expanded their business and Charlie moved his family to Van Wert. After Charlie's retirement in 1985, Moysey's Clothing remained in downtown Van Wert and was run by his daughter, Dianne, until its closing in 1994. An avid athlete, he loved to golf, bowl and play tennis, and he was no stranger to the dance floor. In his later years, he took up shuffleboarding to stay fit. He spent a lot of his weekends and vacation time on the water, boating at Dale Hollow Lake in Kentucky and Coldwater Lake in Michigan. He taught all of his children and extended family to water ski. In his early retirement years, he and his wife, Virginia, moved to Florida to enjoy the warm weather and sun-filled days. In 2003, they moved back to Ohio to be closer to their loved ones, where they resided with family members in Plain City. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert.

Services will be at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert.
