Obituary Gene C. Miller, 83 of Vermilion, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at his home. He was born September 22, 1923 in Portsmouth, Ohio and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 50 years moving from Lorain and Kelleys Island. He worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for 18 years retiring in 1978. He had previously worked as a mechanic and tow truck driver for Miller Brother's Garage in Lorain. He was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church, American Legion post 397, and VFW post 7576. He enjoyed working in his workshop, boating, RC boats, computers, playing cards, casino games, traveling, hunting, fishing, and watching wrestling on tv. Survivors include 6 sons: Robert "Bob" G. Miller of New London, Donald B. Miller of Norwalk, Terry L. Miller of Lorain, Ty R. Derrow of Riverview , FL Brad H. Miller of Somerset, KY, and Mark Z Miller of North Fairfield, OH; and 3 daughters: Deborah A. Slyker of Palm Harbor , FL, Susan L. Folino of Vermilion, and Mimi Bella of Vermilion; 22 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Jim Miller of Amherst; and 3 sisters, Donna Cline of Palm Springs, CA, Judy Stanfield of Vermilion, and Susan Darby of Stow, OH. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Arie (nee Hammond); his second wife, Ann Miller in 2005, parents, Burt Miller and Theresa (nee Laux) Hiles, and son Jerry Miller. Friends may call Friday, October 6, 2006 from 9 until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Rev. Louis Bertoni will officiate and the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
