Obituary

Nick Bianchi, 74, of Kelleys Island, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 29, 2010.

He was born Jan. 10, 1936, son of Adam and Josephine (Poggiali) Bianchi. Nick graduated from Kelleys Island High School and served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Hancock-Wood Electric Company in 1999.

He was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and was also a member of the VFW Post 9908. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, and loved spending time with his daughters and his grandchildren.

His daughters, Teri (Michael) Beatty of Avon, Ohio, and Peggy (Joel) Hassinger of Huron; his grandchildren, Noah and Rory Hassinger and Ryley Beatty; numerous nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Geraldine Betzenheimer, survive him.

In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his sister, Dena Gennari, and his brother, Nello Bianchi.

Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Friday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 219 Chappel St., Kelleys Island. A boat to accommodate those wishing to attend the funeral will leave from Marblehead at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Kelleys Island Cemetery.
