Obituary Robert M. Swanson, 85, of Sandusky,was guided home by the angels late Tuesday evening, May 15, 2012 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness. Robert was born on July 26, 1926 in Middle Bass Island, OH to the late Lawrence and Estelle (Ward) Swanson. Bob was a US Navy Veteran and served in World War II. Bob was employed as a Boat Captain for the former Neumann Boat Line for 50 years. He was a member of the Sandusky Amvets Post #17, and the Sandusky VFW Post #2529. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed fishing, and boating on Lake Erie. Bob was active as a Deacon in the First Faith Community Church, he was one of the original founding members of the Sandusky Maritime Museum, and was also a Mason. He was always there for any friend and family member in need, without questions. He will be missed and will always be in our hearts. Robert is survived by one daughter Annette K (Dr. Thomas) Renny of Temple Terrance, FL; one son, Robert P Swanson of Sandusky, OH; two grandchildren, Abby Swanson, Hallie Swanson; one sister in law Nancy Swanson who stayed by his side through his illness until the end; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by wife, Carol Swanson in 1999; two brothers, Lawrence Swanson, Norman Swanson; two sisters, Senora Swanson, and Jane Mielink. |
